1905 - Atlanta Life Insurance Company established

The Atlanta Life Insurance Company was established on September 6, 1905. It was founded by Alonzo Herndon, an African American entrepreneur, and became one of the most significant Black-owned insurance companies in the United States. The company provided life insurance to African Americans at a time when they were often denied coverage by other companies.
