1967 - Thurgood Marshall become First African American Supreme Court Justice.

Thurgood Marshall, United States Solicitor General, name to the Supreme Court by President Johnson.  Marshall was confirmed by the Senate on August 30 and became the first African American Supreme Court Justice.
